This altar was commissioned by visual artist and yoga practitioner Adam Grossi for the purpose of their home meditation practice. The form of the piece is designed using a number of symbols and visual motifs found throughout Adam's breadth of paintings.

Additionally, the altar is designed to be unable to stand upright on its own. Instead, it requires the mindful distribution of weight across its surfaces to maintain an overall balance and security — a concept proposed by Adam to represent the balancing function their meditation practice serves broadly in their life.
