This altar was designed and built for the historic KAM Isaiah synagogue in Hyde Park, Chicago to serve as the centerpiece within their 1972-established chapel designed by Jonathan Altshuler and Ron Dirsmith. The piece is intended to echo various stylistic and architectural characteristics from throughout the chapel; to feel so closely related to the surrounding space that you might assume they were created together.
The altar is made from red oak, yellow pine and brass and measures approximately
44 x 44 x 60 inches. It will be in use and viewable in perpetuity as a part of all regular public chapel service at KAM Isaiah.
